  Letters of Appreciation

Phuong Nguyen
April 12, 1999

I, herby Phuong Nguyen, a Vietnamese refugee who was relocated in San Francisco under H.O. program, respectfully write this letter to show my warmest and sincerest appreciation for the great helps you have done to me.

Thanks to your help of assigning a teacher to teach me personally English and ways of living in America, I have been adapted to the new life easily and comfortably. My appreciation is also to Mr. Ponch Bhatia my teacher.

Thanks to your help me how to apply the housing program. Thanks to your help pushing forward and contacting US Embassy in Bangkok for my family reunification, my 3 children and 2 grandchildren will come to the United States soon.

My special appreciation is to Miss Connie Truong, the Refugee Transitions employee, who took care of my case. It can be said that what I have got today are from your devotion and enthusiasm.

Again, I would like to say thank you and wish the Refugee Transitions lasts for ever to provide help to other refugees.

Sincerely,
Phuong Nguyen

Dear Jeanne,

My name is Irina Leschenko. I want to say thank you. About five month ago you gave me a very good volunteer, his name is Sean McGraw. He is teaching me how I need to say correct English. I learned a lot of English grammar. His lessons are an interesting. Before, I never learned grammar so clearly and interestingly. I can use a lot of verb tenses with correct form.

Sean is very smart. He knows a lot of interesting things. I hope it will be to help me in American life. I don't feel confused when I begin to speak English with another American people. His pronounce is very clear and this is very important for me. He always a partient with me when I asked his about something. Also, every week I meet with him. I want to say, "Thank you very much!" You helped me to find a first American friend in San Francisco!

Dear Jeanne:

I want to thank you for accept me. Mary is a good teacher, she has a lot patiences and considerations for me. Mary taught me how to read, spell, taught me my alphabet, numbers, and how to pronounce words that I never knew before. And also I learn my vowels and verbs. I also include a page of sentences that I copy from the book but I know how to read them well.

Sincerely,
