Adult English Language Instructor
Cara joined Refugee Transitions in August of 2019 as an Adult English Language Instructor at Oakland International High School.
She is the first in her family to complete college. She holds an undergraduate degree and masters in English and an ESL Certificate from California State East Bay in Hayward, CA. Additionally, Cara earned a Clad Teaching Credential from San Francisco State University and a California administrative Credential in Organizational Leadership from California State East Bay college.
Cara began working with immigrants and refugees at Oakland Unified School District where she developed a profound commitment to the refugee and immigrant experience. From there she expanded her horizons teaching English language at local high schools, colleges and universities. She then went to work as Vice Principal of San Leandro Adult School’s ESL, CBET family literacy, and the high school programs.
She’s deeply gratified to be able to support and nurture the learning experiences of adult refugees and immigrants at Oakland International High School.
