Arpan is a Bhutanese refugee and youth leader. He was born in a refugee camp in Nepal and lived there for 16 years. In 2008, he and his family were resettled in Oakland, CA.

Refugee Transitions assists refugee and immigrant families in becoming self-sufficient in the United States by providing services to help them attain the English language, life, job and academic skills they need to succeed in their new communities.  

Our primary services are home-based, after-school, and site-based ESL and civics tutoring for youth and adult refugee, immigrant, and asylee students.  We assist over 1,200 students and have a corps of over 250 volunteers.  Join us today:
