My name is Ashlei Lopez, and I am originally from Guatemala. I immigrated to the United States on my own at the age of 13. I first joined Refugee & Immigrant Transitions (RIT) in 2023 while in high school, serving as a peer tutor to support newcomers with their schoolwork and social integration. Working with this program significantly enhanced my social skills and helped me identify my career goals after graduation. I am now beginning college, majoring in Early Childhood Development, with the goal of continuing to support and serve the immigrant community.
