Maimoona Iman Maiar

Iman joined Refugee & Immigrant Transitions (RIT) in August 2023 as a Case Manager, providing educational case management and connecting participants and their families with essential community resources, services, and opportunities.

Originally from Afghanistan, Iman is multilingual and speaks Pashto, Dari/Farsi, English, Urdu, and Hindi. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Kardan University in Afghanistan, as well as a diploma from the International School of Leadership at IAM (International Assistance Mission) Leadership School.

Iman brings extensive experience working with international organizations in Afghanistan, including UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), The Asia Foundation (TAF), and US Government through the U.S. Embassy and US Military-KRCC-Kabul Regional Contracting Center. She has also supported a variety of U.S.-based projects in Operations, Human Resources, Administration, and Program Support. Her diverse professional background has strengthened her ability to work across cultures, build meaningful relationships, and connect individuals and families with the support they need.

As an immigrant herself, Iman understands firsthand the challenges of navigating unfamiliar systems and building a new life in the United States. She draws on her personal experience, professional expertise, and understanding of U.S. systems to help RIT participants access resources, overcome barriers, and pursue their educational, personal, and family goals.

Iman is passionate about collaborative approaches, women’s empowerment, and supporting children and families in need. She believes that strong partnerships, compassion, and access to the right resources can create meaningful pathways toward stability and opportunity. She is grateful to be part of the RIT community, where she continues to learn from colleagues, participants, and families while supporting them in building brighter futures.
