Malaak is a refugee and immigrant advocate. She is an asylee from Afghanistan, and a representative of an underserved refugee community: Afghan-Americans. Malaak specializes in forming community partnerships to spread cultural awareness & build alliances in an effort to end stigma and discrimination, promote wellness, recovery, resiliency and social inclusion. She received her BA degree in Organizational Behavior and Development from the University of San Francisco. She held positions at the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Refugee Transitions, and is an active member of various Social Justice projects.
