Adult Vocational English Language & Literacy Instructor
Jackie joined Refugee & Immigrant Transitions in the Fall of 2020, as an Adult Vocational English Language & Literacy Instructor at the Oakland location.
She has an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from the University of San Francisco.
Jackie is an immigrant from Trinidad & Tobago and comes from a family of artists. Being an immigrant informed her desire to work with refugees and immigrants:
assisting them with developing their English language skills, helping them to navigate a new culture and country, and preparing them to take the U.S. Citizenship test and interview.
Before joining RIT, Jackie worked for many years in the publishing industry in Berkeley and San Francisco as an academic marketing specialist.
She also has a BFA in Graphic Design from California College of the Arts.
